Progress report: Reboot

About half way through the trip seemed like to perfect time to just relax and reboot. Thanks to Simon's amazing uncle Magnus we were able to this in style in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Five-star hotels are really not in our budget, but Magnus generously shared some miles with us and we were taking in all the luxury at the Sheraton in Nha Trang. It felt especially good after we got stuck taking a night bus from Hoi An (trains were booked!) and we needed somewhere to rest our weary bones. Sand and sun were the perfect remedy.

At the beach.
At the pool.
Simon enjoying the thread count.

After 4 days we are back on the road. We took a night train to Saigon (that's where we rang in the new year, cozy in our bunks) and then spent the day with the Lybbert family, our friends that we met in Chiang Mai. We spent the afternoon at an indoor play park for the kids, and then wandered through a crowded park in the evening. We only spent 24 hours in Saigon, but were glad that we made the stop to hang out with friends and experience the city, if only briefly.

Night train to Saigon.
Toys! Lots of 'em!
New friends.
And now we are Phnom Penh, Cambodia, heading to Siem Reap tomorrow to explore the temples of ancient Angkor Wat. Our reboot served us well!

  1. Night bus. I love stuff like that. What are you eating in that photo? They look like omlettes, but I'm guessing they're something more interesting.
